I have been enjoying hosting the February 21 for 21 Virtual Co-working Sprints since the start of the month. It’s inspiring to see the action people are taking around their most important goals, tasks and projects each and every day, whether they are with us live, or catching up on the recordings as part of the 21 for 21 Booster Pack.
One of the key themes which has emerged is the importance of undertaking weekly reviews. These weekly reviews provide an opportunity to pause and see how things are doing, identify key learning and pivot for the next week. ON Sunday I posed these questions to the 21 for 21 February Crew –
PLAN Do TRACK If you are with us for the 21 for 21, be sure to complete your weekly review, along with your 21 for 21 Tracker for the month of February. If you are not with us, jump in! The sprint will run this month until February 21st. The 21 for 21 are a new program offering and will be around most months of the year. If you can’t join us this month, check out to see when the next one is stating (usually the first day of the month). If you have a copy of the Coaching Business Builder, be sure to undertake your end of week review, by using the Week In Review template which is part of the Planner section. Enjoy! And…here we are. It’s Labor Day which is often known as the second new year. What are your goals for the end of the year? What routines do you want to establish, or re-establish, even if they look a little different this year? Earlier today I held a 25 minute reflective pause call - you can find it here. Be sure to download the associated worksheet as well over at PlanDoTrack.com We have over 120 days left of the year, and there’s still a significant amount of time to revisit your annual goals, tweak them, and/or play full out in achieving them. As you step into this week consider these questions: Around Annual Goals:
As it relates to Fall Routines consider these questions: What are the routines which help you:
Enjoy your focus and I hope to see you in a few weeks at the Stand Out Virtually Masterclass! You can find out more about this one day program here. With best wishes, Jennifer Jennifer Britton, PCC, CPCC, CHRL

PS - Have you heard about the one day virtual event I'm hosting this month on Thursday September 16th? It's called the Stand Out Virtually Studio Day/Masterclass. We'll be taking a deep dive into the virtual facilitation toolbox to support you in creating even more powerful virtual programming, while giving you time during the day to map it out. Marketing is an on-going focus for business at all stages - whether we are new or established businesses, spending time consistently on marketing is key. Here are five elements you may want to include in your marketing strategy for the rest of the year. #1 – Outreach What is on your plan to reach out to new people as well as your network. What are the touchpoints you have planned to keep people in the loop? What are you doing on a consistent basis to be in conversation with your community? If it’s not scheduled, put some outreach time in your schedule right now. #2 - Content Creation and Repurposing A few weeks ago, I wrote about the many reasons content creation is important. So is repurposing the materials. What are the 3 things you are excited about creating? #3 – Digitization 2020 has been the year of the pivot to all things virtual and digital. I’ll be doing a series of blog posts this all on digitization. Let’s get you thinking of this already. What products do you have that could be made into a digital version? If you have a book, what could become an e-book? If you have a card deck, how could that become digitized? #4 – Tracking What You Are Doing What do you notice about revenue flows? Time investments and what’s getting you traction? With your metrics in mind, what do you want to say YES to? NO to? #5 - Dedicated Time to Marketing and Moving Key Projects Forward – Regularly A final piece of this is to ensure that you have time built in to dedicate to marketing and executing your programming on a regular basis. What time have you earmarked? What do you notice about your productivity during that time? Enjoy your focus! Contact her by phone at (416)996-8326 I often get asked “Why would I need to create content as a coach? I thought I’m not supposed to be a content expert”. So true, AND, a business owner who is likely to be creating a podcast or blog posts, or also offering other services than coaching, it’s likely that making space and time to focus on content creation can be useful. As someone who has sustained blogs for many years, I have learned how important it is to have a plan to go to, especially when writer’s block happens – and it does happen to all of us! Today’s post gets you to think about your content planning for the rest of the year. I hope that you will take a few minutes to work through these questions, and short activities. They don’t all need to happen at once. Step #1 - Take 10-15 minutes to get your ideas out of your head – what are possible post ideas? Think about what your clients have been asking for? What have been the themes you have been coaching around? Step #2 – Go back and review any past posts you have done. What hasn’t been covered yet? What ideas does this spark for you? What’s a deeper dive into topics you might have touched on? What’s a synthesis of other topics? Step #3 – Review the metrics you have around blogs. What have people enjoyed? What do the numbers say? Step #4 – Once everything is down on paper in a Mindmap or list, now think about creating a consistent schedule for posting or creating. Are you committed to posting every week? Twice a week? What about when you will schedule creating it? Most of my blog writing happens in an hour block I have on Tuesday morning, or sometimes in an hour block first thing on the weekend. Step #5 – Consider whether you want to get some help on this. Having a VA create some graphics for you and/or schedule the drafts can be of benefit, and some accountability, for getting things done. Step #6 – List it out, schedule it in, and start to execute! BONUS – Consider what you can do to repurpose A couple of the forms you may want to use from the Coaching Business Builder:
Be sure to write out your content needs as part of your Monthly To Dos. Once you have a monthly content plan in place this is easy. It also means that you have that month’s content at the forefront of your mind at all times. What tips do you have for others? Looking forward to your suggestions! It’s not only a new year, but a new decade. It’s a great opportunity to crack that spine on your new planner and dive in. Ready to get started? What are your goals this year? Take a few minutes to write them out. As you write things down, also consider these questions:
What would magnify them? Are these goals really a stretch? What would double them? 10X them? 100X them? While stretch goals can be an encouragement to some, note that they may be a discourager to others. Who are you going to share your goals with? We know that the act of public accountability often ups the ante around what we are committed to doing. It can sometimes light a spark, or add oxygen to a smaller ember. Finally – TRACK. Where are you starting your year? What are your metrics – revenue, inventory, followers, subscriptions, etc. Take a few minutes today to note your starting point and be sure to leverage the power of the Monthly Daily Trackers if you have a copy of PlanDoTrack or Coaching Business Builder. I’m looking forward to bringing you another year of weekly blog posts related to business development and growing your coaching business. We take a look at many of these topics in greater depth at the Coaching Biz Growth Lab – a group that meets annually on Fridays from 3 – 4 pm ET (usually the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month). 1st call for 2020 will occur on Friday January 10th. Check out my author page on Amazon for all publications. Email: [email protected] Over the last few weeks here at the blog we’ve been exploring different elements for year end. This week I wanted to draw your focus to a big of a laundry list of common year end items coaches may find themselves working around. Last year, as part of the Coaching Biz Growth Lab, (a group I host throughout the year) I pulled together a handy, year-end checklist which you can download here. You’ll note that this list includes a list of a variety of different tasks and activities including a focus on financials, clients, goals and other areas. Taking some time BEFORE the end of the year is critical for getting the year wrapped up and setting focus for the year ahead. What are the areas you want to put attention around? Before you move onto your next task, be sure to download a copy of the year-end checklist! Enjoy and in the comments let us know what you found most useful OR things you also added. Numbers and data provide patterns and insight for those who take time to explore what metrics are available to them. As a solopreneur, or small business owner, it can be useful to take time on a regular basis to track what your numbers are saying. Here’s a quick list of some of the metrics you may want to track:

It’s getting to be that time of year to earmark some time for year-end planning, whether it is for yourself, your team or your business. This has become a passion topic of mine for many decades now as a retreat leader, and for the past couple of years, my authorship of two workbook planners – PlanDoTrack (for Remote Workers) and the Coaching Business Builder (for coaches) has brought me more into the landscape of planning on a regular occurrence. As you go to develop your plans for 2020, and perhaps the new decade, it may be useful to segment your planning along the lines of PLAN, DO, and TRACK. First, prepare. We know that planning and preparation can save ample time. An old project management adage is that “ten minutes of planning will save 1 hour of unfocused effort”. Before you go to sit down and work on your plan it may be useful to:
Next , PLAN: As you go to prepare for 2020 planning consider:
Then, DO: Another important part of planning is the DOING. Consider what kind of plan is going to work for you. Are you the type of person who likes to review? Make notes once a week? Take a deep dive monthly? Both PlanDoTrack and Coaching Business Builder includes an undated planner with monthly, quarterly and annual planning pages. You can start using them at any time, and in seeing how people engage with these, it's fascinating to note the different preferences people have around planning. Once you have decided your responses to these questions, consider doing a big list of all the things you want to focus on (projects, tasks and activities) for 2020. Make a list according to your preferred style:
As Drucker is often quoted as saying, “what doesn’t get scheduled, doesn’t get done”. Finally, TRACK: Tracking is another part of planning and productivity success. What do your numbers say Without metrics around a plan it’s hard to know what really is changing. While some may only see numbers as numbers, the value of tracking metrics is that over time you will start seeing some interesting patterns. If this is an area you want to get better at, check out the Monthly Daily Trackers, and Content Trackers in both PlanDoTrack and the Coaching Business Builder Workbook and Planners (see section 5 - the planners). Questions to consider:
If you are looking for a framework, consider using the Monthly Daily Trackers which you will find in the 5th section of PlanDoTrack or Coaching Business Builder. There are 12 sets of them. For more on metrics, stay tuned for next week’s blog post. I’ll be dedicating it to the topic of metrics. Best, Jennifer PS - Save the DATE!
