In moving a business forward, especially through inflection points, it can be important to add systems. Systems help us scale, they help us delegate and they also ensure systematization as we bring on different people. Systems ensure consistency in a business. What are the systems you have in place that help you replicate and scale? As I explore in Section 3 of the Coaching Business Builder, there are several areas coaches will want to explore as systems in their business including:
At this time of year it can be useful to go through your financial systems and check for revenue and expense patterns; your budget for the office, learning and expenses; communication – internet/phone(s)/other systems, as well as customer and client supports which often also connect to registration and on-boarding. This week’s Solopreneur myth explores the notion of “I need to do it all alone”. While you may be choosing to run a solopreneur company, it may not mean that you have to do everything alone. Whether you are building a team of part-time or full time workers or are looking to bring different people onboard as sub-contractors for specific projects, being able to build your team is critical. The September 2019 Coaching Business Builder call focused on building your own team. It explored what it means to grow your team as a solopreneur. You can check out that call here. Be sure to grab a pen and take some notes as you go! As you grow your team, key themes to explore include:
Questions to consider: 1. What does the team need to excel in the year ahead? 2. What will help the team be at their best? 3. What is going to be the major challenge for the year ahead? The major opportunity? 4. What development opportunities do we want to build in (retreats, team coaching, mentoring etc.?) 5. What requests do I need to make of the team right now? 6. How will we measure our success? And as a bonus… What will help to expedite or magnify what's working? Enjoy your focus! Jennifer Jennifer Britton, PCC, CPCC

Building a business can be all-consuming. While it may be important to “push it” at several times of the year, building a business sustainably also means building in blocks to renew, and setting boundaries in terms of when you are available and when you may not be. In this post, we’ll explore three areas you might want to consider in tightening up your boundaries in business. Boundaries in business can involve: Learning how to delegate. Consider the tasks that could be passed on to others. This might include posting your articles on social media, designing graphics for your work, laying out brochures or other.
Time at work – As a business owner the work will always be there. It’s important to remember that productivity does not always equal amount of time worked. Many of you took advantage of the Heart of Coaching Giveaway item I shared this year which was the 19 Productivity and Business Development Tips. I’ve now made this into a video-based program which also includes a series of bi-weekly live calls. You can join us here. Becoming more discerning. Check out the blog post I included over at the PlanDoTrack blog a short while ago on discernment. You can search out the PlanDoTrack blog posts here. Questions to help you with discernment:
